Vergennes is a cute, small town, known as the Little City, Big Heart. The Main Street has attractive clothing stores, art shops, restaurants. But, this Main Street is also Rt.22a which is a major route through Vermont. Hence, huge tractor trailers are barreling up and down the street shifting gears noisily and detracting from the charm.

We stayed here from Sunday afternoon through shortly before noon on Wednesday. We rode to the grocery store on our bikes (mine is electric). We took Katie’s rental car to Middlebury, about 20 minutes away-a very pretty college town, and played golf on the campus Ralph Myhre Golf Course. It was a delightful 9 holes.
Katie and Brian did the Work From Home thing in their apartment and we had dinner together each night.
On Wednesday we head back out Otter Creek headed for Willsboro Bay, on the New York side of Lake Champlain. After the hour ride out of the Creek we had about another hour to our anchorage. We stopped and took pictures of the cottage Jim’s family had rented. Just to make it a little exciting we decided to plow through a predicted thunderstorm. Clouds were dark, winds kicked up, thunder and lightening. I made everyone put on their life jackets (although honestly I don’t know how they would help) and said some prayers. It passed as quickly as it started.
In Willsboro Bay we tied up to a mooring ball, which is like being out on anchor but a bit less to worry about as they are secure to the bottom, you don’t have to use your own anchor and the labor that entails. Then part of the day was beautiful and sunny. We took turns zipping around the bay in the dinghy. Quite beautiful.

Sounds like you’re having fun fun fun!!! We miss you guys!
