Launch Day 2023

We launched Irish Eyes on Thursday June 8th. It had been in ‘dry- dock’ since August of 2021 in Plattsburgh, NY. That was when we ended the first stage of ‘The Great Loop’. We had cruised from our home port of Bay Head NJ up the Hudson River and spent the summer on Lake Champlain, a total of six weeks. At Mooney Bay Marina (Plattsburgh) we gave IE a winter home in indoor storage, which in addition to protecting the boat from the elements, makes startup much simpler- dinghy, bimini top and cockpit screens are all in place and the entire boat inside and out are much cleaner. We are pleased with the result.

After she was lifted into the water we brought her around to our slip for the night and were happy to realize both the Captain and first mate remembered how to operate this vessel. The next day we took a brief ride on Lake Champlain and then over to another marina for the next week and a half to have it detailed and get a few minor repairs done.

THE CAPTAIN ENJOYED A LITTLE SPIN IN THE DINGHY

Since 2021 we have changed our minds about doing ‘The Loop’. We have had a wonderful 24 years on Irish Eyes I & II and will keep the memories of all the good times we have had with us forever. Some of which we will make this year as we continue another portion (450 miles) of the Loop. We intend to cast off this Thursday the 22nd.

CANADA HERE WE COME! CANADA NOUS VOILA!
