Bienvenue au Canada

We arrived in Plattsburg on Wednesday the 21st a little after noon, disappointed to hear the detailing job was not completed, but it would be by noon Thursday. Then we discovered that UPS failed to deliver a ‘splitter’ we needed, but the marina agreed to let us have theirs and they would keep ours. So relaxful. But, we had a nice dinner on board and then returned the rental car to Plattsburg ‘International’ Airport. We arrive shortly before 7 and find five employees at the airport, lesson learned-just because it is called an ‘International Airport ‘ does not mean it is open 24/7. We are so spoiled.

On Thursday morning Jim realizes he forgot his BP meds at home, after a hurried call to Dr. Caballes and an Uber over to CVS and back, we have settled that issue. Next, the generator is not working. Then it is. We head out about 12:30, fuel up and cross the border at 2:30.

We had been warned about the seriousness of the border crossing, to stop at customs, what food and liquor were allowed or not, we were a little on edge.

The Customs border stop is that little white house, the Canadian flag wasn’t even flying. And the Richelieur River is big at this point, you had to look for the Customs stop. Within an hour we were at our home for the next 3 nights- Marina Fortin in Ile-aux-Noix. We let out the dinghy and went for a pre-sunset tour. Lovely.

All is well that ends well!

  1. I like your last comment—all’s well that ends well. Have a wonderful trip. Weather here not good —going to be raining on and off for the next week and now very humid. Can wait to see more of your trip🤗

  2. Well if it was easy it wouldn’t be so special at the end. As Jim knows I am from the St Lawrence river area so I can relate to the river voyage. So great!

I am up at our camp in the Adirondacks getting it ready for the summer season.

    Bon voyage guys.
